Cambridgeshire Home

We had the pleasure of working on this beautiful house last year alongside RM Construction and Peter Rawlings Architects.  A new kitchen and conservatory was added to give more living space for the family, and this had the added benefit of bringing extra light into the house and opening up the views to the stunning landscape behind. We were lucky to work with the skills of cabinet maker Philip Clay to create built in storage pieces. Our favourite was his interpretaion of our design for a glazed unit in the Dining room.

The wide, long oak boards from Rainleaf were an obvious choice in the Hall, Dining room and Drawing room enhancing the large scale and character of the rooms, and the random layout of the natural limstone floor from Artisans provided a light but practical surface for the kitchen and conservatory. These beautiful floors were set off with a palette of soft blues and greens that we continued throughout the house, so that each room flowed into another but with subtle changes and bursts of colour to add interest.

As with all projects it is the soft furnishings that add the finishing touch and bring a home to life.  Dressing such large and majestic windows required us not only to source beautiful fabrics but to use the skills of  Eileen Stirling and her team, to make them into curtains, blinds, headboards and cushions that looked stunning, but were practical and functional too.
